It turns out the house rule on Save vs Death is for any PC that falls to 0 or less. If you make your save, you are alive but horribly wounded, and need to be dragged back to civilization for long-term care and recovery.
Questions & comments:
- Is this a rule you guys like? (Especially thickets.)
- This means that Talon deserved a save. Or perhaps we should establish that certain deaths (ie lava!) are not recoverable.
- I have to figure out how long it takes to recover from one of these horrible wounds. Or if there's some other way to recover.
- Do we want PCs to be sitting around in town, convalescing for weeks? I don't mind letting people run multiple characters, but wow, if you think leveling one guy is tough…
One thing we could consider is letting players run a retainer as a PC while they wait for the PC to recover. This retainer would get a full share of xp and treasure during this time. This lets people keep playing, and also improves a shared resource (the retainer).
What do you guys think? Is anyone even reading this forum? :)
